Do spaces count as characters?
Yes in the main total. A separate statistic shows characters without whitespace so you can use either rule.
How are emoji and accented letters counted?
The tool counts user-perceived Unicode characters. A joined emoji or a letter with a combining accent normally counts as one visible character.
Why can the byte count be larger than the character count?
UTF-8 uses one to four bytes for a Unicode code point. Visible characters can therefore require several encoded bytes.
Are platform limits guaranteed to stay the same?
Platform limits can change. Presets are kept in one configuration and should be treated as drafting aids; confirm unusual account or content rules before publishing.
